Thousands of people led by Father Francis Damaseki gathered at Likuni Cemetery in Lilongwe on Tuesday 23rd July 2019 to pay their last respect to the late Brother Paul Kelvin Mbalame.
The late Brother Paul Mbalame died on Saturday 20th July 2019 after being involved in a fatal road accident in Kasungu district.
The Most Rev. Archbishop Tarsizio Ziyaye,Arch Bishop of Lilongwe Archdiocese presided over the Requiem Mass on Tuesday 23rd July starting at 10:00am.
Father Vincent Tembo, the vice provincial of the salesian ZMB province, described Paul Mbalame as a gentle man. “My experiences with Paul, truly he was a person who was gentle and he had a smile, he was blessed with a gift of smile”, he said.
Father Tembo also said that the death of brother Paul Mbalame is a big blow to the salesian congregation.
“We are affected by his sudden death ,already in two weeks he was expected to go to Nairobi for his theology to prepare himself for the priesthood and losing him is a big blow for us the salesian congregation, “he narrated.
According to Father Michael Mbandama, the Rector and the Principal of Don Bosco Youth Technical Institute, Paul will be remembered as a hard worker. “I will remember Paul Mbalame as a very hard working brother who was preparing programs for the young people in the hostels and he was always very happy”, he said.
At exactly 1:54pm, the body of the late Mbalame, was interred into his resting place.
Born on 22 February, 1991 at Zulu Village, T/A Zulu in Mchinji, Bro. Paul Mbalame professed as a Salesian brother on 15th August 2014. Later in the same year, he went to Tanzania to do philosophy and education for three years. He returned in 2017, and practiced his pastoral work at Don Bosco Lilongwe before being moved to Nkhotakota where he was working until his death.
